The Weekly Edit
the new iphone, armani's will, sephora rainmakers, career minimalism, nyfw musings, in-n-out's ingredients and so much more
Hi! How are you? Just me or did your town/city go full on fall this week? Pumpkins are spilling over in the front of the market, corn stalks and gourds stacked on doorsteps, soccer fields buzzing with games, mornings finally cool enough to wear a jacket unironically and there’s a general sense of winding down into a cozier season. It feels nice this seasonal shift, you know?
Let’s get into the weekly edit:
Vogue will no longer release issues on a monthly schedule. In an interview with The New York Times, Malle stated that she wants the magazines to revolve around themes and be printed on higher quality paper stock to make them feel like keepsakes instead of disposable reads.
In a surprise twist, Armani's will instructed his heirs Pantaleo Dell’Orco, his sister Rosanna Armani, his nieces Silvana Armani and Roberta Armani, and his nephew Andrea Camerana (he had no children) to sell 15% of the company within 18 months and later an additional 30% to 54.9%. It also states that the priority should be given to luxury giant LVMH.
AirPods Pro 3 were also announced and get this, they can translate conversations in real time. With Live Translation, if someone speaks in a language you don’t understand, you hear them in your language in the AirPods, and you can speak back with their translated version showing up on the iPhone.
Crocs came out with a clog-inspired iphone case and ppl are freaking out over it.
One week in and Rhode has already broken into Sephora’s top 10 skincare brands.
Scratch and sniff wild postings are trending (clever!).
A lot of beauty acquisition movement: Nudestix has been acquired by a U.S.-based private group, Bansk Group is acquiring a majority stake in BYOMA and KKR acquired Samhwa Co, one of Asia’s leading cosmetic packaging producers.
Forget the minibar, The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles is rolling out beauty fridges with cleansers, serums, moisturizers, cryotherapy globes, eye masks, and light masks.
Here’s a little NYFW street style photographed by Phil Oh.
Jacquemus and Veuve Clicquot took over the Central Park boathouse and it was all sorts of stunning. Basket lined tables soon-to-be trending.
I love that at Rachel Comey’s NYFW presentation the models did their own hair and makeup. The only instruction from Comey was to bring your daily favorites.
The real MVP of J.Crew’s immersive experience at 190 Bowery was this red broken-in barn jacket (btw, this was their top selling item in August per Puck).
Not mad at Reformation’s new vintage-inspired jewelry.
Janessa Leoné may be known for hats but her fall bags launched and are v chic, this one in particular.
Why is it called a tennis bracelet? The story behind the sparkling classic.
This outfit trend makes your t-shirts look like The Row–coded.
Can a beige sweater be a gateway drug? The $140 million brand built on beige cashmere sweaters (which I love so much!).
Sézane fall is here and per usual, it's sooo good! This cape meets trench situation, great denim, boots, j'adore!
Victoria Beckham’s three-part Netflix series premieres on October 9.
A fun listen: 60 Songs That Explain the '90s.
In-N-Out Burger finally published their ingredient list.
This 10 Minute marinated butter bean salad is a delight to have in your fridge.
An interview with deVOL’s Creative Director, Helen Parker.
After more than a decade in the English Countryside, and with her two adult children now living in Brooklyn, Amanda Brooks is back in NYC (!!!). A look inside her flat which was captured by AD.
How the locals feel about Ballerina Farm’s new (rather adorable!) shop.
Did you know research shows you replace half your friends every 7 years?
Adding Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles here because it feels right.
“Career minimalism” is a term I did not know could exist.
“I study stress, this cure surprised and helped me.”
50 simple ways to make a difference in your community.
And to close it out, three small things that sparked joy this week:
1. Mariah Carey on the VMA’s (who watched?!).
2. There were enough leaves on the ground to inspire my kids to toss them in the air.
3. Feeling super cozy while roasting spaghetti squash.
That’s it, hope you have a nice week! And a gentle reminder that these take a lot of love and time to pull together, so if you’re enjoying the weekly edit each week, would you be kind enough to tap the little heart? It’s a small thing that’s actually really big in the Substack world. Merci, merciiii!
