tulips, privacy is sexy and my spring cleaning check-list

The children were on mid-winter break all week, so we’ve been busy going on “special adventures” - the library, Target, the nail salon, the ice cream parlor, the farmers market, and anywhere else I could think of that isn’t part of our usual routine. It’s pretty adorable how simply calling something a “special” outing makes it instantly exciting for them. If only I could freeze time!

I also took their break as an opportunity to jump-start spring cleaning (list below) by tackling the things I needed their help with: clothing, toys, art… oh my! Anyhow, I hope you have a nice Sunday. 🧡

Read, Watches, Beauty, Style, Life Musings, Etc.:

• I bought tulips (the ones pictured) at the farmers market this week and they spark joy. Highly recommend.

• Started following Christian Petron, a Bronx-born chef who is so authentically himself and makes the most delicious-looking Italian-American food. I just love him and cannot wait for his book, Parm to Table. (How was that cookbook name not taken already? So good!)

• Ruadh denim is all over my IG right now as is this Juju Vera shell pendant.

• Saved to the chic folder.

• This wearable medtech to monitor hormones regularly sounds cool.

• The 10 best booths at Frieze Los Angeles.

• “The consumption of her life isn’t to be idolized, monetized, or reduced to an aesthetic.” Privacy is so sexy.

• Are runny egg yolks safe to eat with bird flu?

• How Crown Affair became the queen of it-girl hair care.

• Every year, there’s one ribbed tank top (you know the one - the Target one, the Re/Done one) that becomes my go-to and this is the one for me this year. It’s only 5% spandex so it doesn’t cut into my skin in an unflattering way, it fits just right.

• Are you someone who worries about completely made-up future scenarios that will likely never happen? Enter: future tripping.

• Ok Michelle Pfeiffer! Forever girl crush.

• Couple goals.

• Watching the new Bridget Jones and it’s nice to hang with her again. Also started ‘Zero Day’ with Robert DeNiro.

Spring Cleaning List:
This Week with the Kids:
-Cleaned out and organized all clothing closets except for the front hall coat closet (saving that for when it’s officially hot). Sorted items into giveaway, hand-me-downs for little sister, and donation bags.
-Cleaned out and reorganized all the children’s clothing drawers.
-Cleaned out and organized all the toy bins.
-Sorted through their piles of art projects - kept favorites, took pictures of some, and tossed the rest.
-Reorganized the children’s bathroom drawers and cabinets, their hair clips were a real mess.
-Changed all air filters, including air conditioners.
-Rotated and flipped all mattresses.
-Wiped down and disinfected all touch points: door knobs, handles, light switches, stair handrail, remotes, etc.
-This may not sound like “cleaning” but I did a full day of all the windows open to bring fresh air all throughout our home. Nothing better!

Next Week While They’re Back in School:
-Deep steam clean floors (with this).
-Deep clean washer.
-Deep clean dryer.
-Deep clean the refrigerator and freezer.
-Schedule the window washer and arrange for rugs to be sent out for a deep clean.
-Dust all light fixtures.
-Vacuum couches and cushions.
-Disinfect all trash cans and bins.

More on My List:
-Wash reusable grocery bags.
-Sharpen kitchen knives.
-Deep clean wood cutting boards.
-Wipe out and organize the spice drawer.
-Power wash outdoor areas.
-Descale the coffee machine.
-Reorganize the linen closet.
-De-clutter and organize the garage shoe area.
-Clean out my intimates drawer, organize the makeup drawer, and sort the photo box in the garage.
