The Weekly Edit
nike is skipping the super bowl, aritzia's record revenue, walking workouts, phone bricks, fresher/cooler makeup, the sobriety trend and so much more!
Hii from a Sunday evening edition of The Weekly Edit! We just got back from LA (where every other girl is wearing Solomon’s) and I like to do one final pass, my last little juuuuuj, before hitting send from my computer…which I left behind at home.
Hope you had a great week! Let’s get into it:
Saks officially filed for bankruptcy, here’s who’s owed the most money.
Canadian fashion retailer Aritzia reported a record Q3 net revenue of $1.04 billion, a 43% increase year-over-year driven by exceptional US market performance.
GAP appointed a Chief Entertainment Officer, very curious to see what this means…
Meanwhile, what is going to happen with Madewell?
Dôen is set to open two to three new locations in 2026, bringing its total to 11, including the soon-to-open Madison Avenue store. They also quietly hired Lori Krauss last month, who spent nearly 12 years at Warby Parker and rose to chief marketing officer. At Warby, she led the brand’s retail scale as the company expanded its store footprint.
Nike and DoorDash are not running Super Bowl ads. DoorDash specifically said they’re focused on the “second screen instead. “We assess our Super Bowl strategy every year based on where culture is moving and how people are actually engaging,” Igwe said. “A 30-second spot can be powerful, but it’s just one part of a much bigger ecosystem.” She continued: “This year, we’re choosing to focus on showing up where the conversation is happening in real time—on the second screen—meeting fans in the moments they’re already participating. Social is where conversation unfolds during the game, and we’re excited to engage there, with much more to come closer to kickoff.” Nike didn’t comment further. Meanwhile, Budweiser’s Clydesdales will be there!
Registration for the 2028 LA Summer Olympics opened this week.
Your key survival skill for 2026: critical ignoring.
Sourdough….so hot right now!
Lingua Franca announced a new partnership with The Anxious Generation Movement. Feels right!
If you’re trying out “year of the bitch,” here’s how to dress like one.
This has been the best essential addition to my closet.
Ordered this (Aritzia!) and this this week to wear with great jeans.
GAP x Summer Fridays part 2 came out this week.
Makeup by Mario launched Jelly Jars. So bouncy!
PSA: everything m.ph by Mary Phillips makes your makeup fresher and cooler. The formulas, the color choices, the tips/tricks/the Mary Phillips techniques! When I do full glam (rare but!), and use her palette, I look like an AI version of myself in a good way. Her lip balm is an everyday for me and her liner colors are perfection.
Here’s a great tip to all my fellow future-trippers.
Why exercise is the best thing for your brain health. Also, knitting.
Recently added carrying 75% of my body-weight in dumbbells to my workout, here’s why.
Also added colostrum into my immunity game because this cold and flu season is bananas! Might have to try the orange for travel, I started with this one to play it safe. If any of you take this and love a flavor, please lmk?
I have joined the readers club and wow, what a difference! Hot tip: you can select reader lenses for any Warby Parkers frames, I have these and these by my bedside and desk. Hollis in grapefruit would be fun readers, too. The virtual try-on feature is great.
Tell Me Lies Season 3 is out!
And to close it out, three LA food/drink highlights:
The oat draft latte on tap at Neighborhood.
Lunch by the pool at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Dinner at Angelini…the pasta Norma…mmmm!
If you’re enjoying the Weekly Edit each week, would you be kind enough to tap the little heart? It’s a small thing that’s actually really big in the Substack world.
Have a nice week!
XX,
