Tips to Make Traveling With Kids Easier
From prepping to packing, strollers, car seats, activities, and more—here's what I’ve learned over the years as a mom of three
THE WEEKLY EDIT:
Making: One-Pan Roasted Halibut Puttanesca & Asparagus
As easy as tossing things in a pan, as beautiful as can be! This one-pan halibut and asparagus is a favorite right now.
Watching: L'Agence on Netflix
I love 'Million Dollar Listing LA,' and this show is like a Parisian version centered around one family working together in real estate. I watched the first episode of the new season and enjoyed their hilarious grandmother as much as the house hunt for something "old and with character" for a cool designer.
Tuned In: Jonathan Haidt
I joined a Zoom call last week with Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, and found it very insightful. Four important points he emphasized that are worth sharing:
No smartphones before 14
“Do not give your child the internet in their pocket. Flip phones or watches without internet instead.”No social media until 16
“Don’t let kids go through puberty on social media, it’s a very vulnerable time.”Phone-free schools
Advocate and push for absolutely phone-free schools. This will get your child off screens for a big portion of the day, push them to have regular phone-free social interactions and will improve learning overall.Free play and responsibility in the real world
“Give your kids more unstructured, unsupervised free time and free play.”
Using: KOSAS Blush is Life
I’m really into the new blush by KOSAS. The clean, silky smooth talc-free powder blushes have skincare ingredients like squalane + hyaluronic acid, are buildable, long lasting and each shade has two swirled tones to create alive, healthy flushes of color. They’re stunning! Dreamland is my current everyday.
Wearing: EF Collection Gold Knot Huggies
Sometimes all it takes is a new accessory to breathe fresh life into your wardrobe, you know? These gold knot hoops have been that. Just the right mix of elegance and elevated.
Shopping: The Anine Bing Sale
A light yellow blazer (I own this and love it), her Quinn blazer, a chic “going out top,” silk trousers, a slip dress in artichoke, her famous moto, oh my!

Tips to Make Traveling With Kids Easier
Looming travel anxiety and crummy airline experiences seem to have become the norm. Add children into the mix, and it can feel overwhelming both leading up to the trip and on travel days.
In the past three months, we’ve traveled across the country three times with our three children, ages 4 and 6 years old, and a baby who was 4, 5, and 6 months old during our trips. Phew! And while absolutely not one of the trips went without a hitch—delayed flights, lost luggage, and all—our children were real troopers. A reminder that they’re resilient and capable, and the better job I do to keep them happy, busy and fed, the better it is for everyone.
My advice? Book the trip and create those memories (and please, pack that dress with the tags on it—you know, the one you’ve been saving for vacation)! But try to make it as easy as possible on yourself and your children. From prepping to packing, strollers, car seats, activities, and more—here are some of the tips and tricks that I’ve learned over the years that help make traveling with young children a little bit easier:
