Spring Micro-Trends Worth Playing With
nothing that requires a full wardrobe overhaul, just small tweaks with big returns
As you all know, I’m forever chasing the low lift. In the kitchen, in beauty, with the children, when making plans and especially when getting dressed. I want things to feel considered but not overly complicated. Polished, but not too precious or stuffy.
And as you also know, I love a trend that delivers a little instant oomph! The kind that meets me where I am with those small, seamless details that integrate effortlessly into my personal style, making what I already own feel new again. Just a slight seasonal juuuujjjjjj!
As spring comes into frame, I’ve been leaning into a handful of said low-lift-instant-oomph-micro-trends doing exactly that. Adding a little life, a little edge, a little something to the everyday uniform, without asking for much in return. Here are some that have been fun and easy to play with:
1. Capris / biker shorts
Capris, biker shorts…tomato, tomahto. The trick is making them feel less athletic, more intentional, more like a pant (I ordered two options and kept/love these).
Add something oversized up top or throw a trench over it with a pretty lip and suddenly they’re a fresh alternative to your usual jeans-and-trench uniform.
My go-to: black turtleneck, capris, oversized trench. Clean, easy, slightly unexpected. A nice break from denim that still feels pulled together.
2. Sheer organza tops, skirts, layers
A sheer blouse over a simple tank, an organza skirt layered with something streamlined…ladylike but fresh. Even just a hint of transparency under a jacket gives that light, airy, almost undone feel that reads very spring 2026.
Fun, fun, chic, pretty!, extra fun!
3. The red sweater
I haven’t stopped reaching for this red sweater which is very much trending. The shade does the heavy lifting, it instantly wakes everything up, the fit (TTS but perfectly oversized), the ease, it just works!
I’ve been remixing it with black silk pants + white tank + trench or simply with jeans and the perfect white tank showing just so. Tie it at the waist, throw it over your shoulders, layer it under coats, or just wearing it straight up….it’s that rare piece that feels both current and forever.
Some other good ones: under $150, also perfect, the splurge.
4. Easy pants
A forever category, but especially right now (thank you, Donni!). Loose, draped, unfussy, drawstring waists in taffeta and carpenter like Kyoto, Techno Taffeta Barrel and/or these super viral drawstring cargos.
Paired with a great tinted moisturizer, something simple up top, tank, tee, lightweight knit, and you’re done.
5. Mesh flats
Barely there, but somehow impactful. They give that same ease as a sandal, but feel more fun. Great with everything from trousers to slips to denim.
Under $30, The Row coded, get on the waitlist, the fun splurge.
Also into a mesh tote!
6. Black leather flip flops
I know….groundbreaking and when are these not in style but truly, swapping in a sleek black leather flip flop modernizes almost anything this season. The key is structure, minimal, but intentional. It’s the kind of switch that changes the whole look without anyone being able to pinpoint why. These are perfect.
7. Strapped sun hats
Every year there seem to be an emerging hat trend and this year is the year of the sun hat with a strap like this (this one did so well it’s sold out and on pre-order) this and this. Pairs well with a great SPF.
