The Weekly Edit
forever 31, timeboxing, adult best friends, costco in france, gen z's uniform and so much more
Hi! And happy Mother’s Day Sunday.
Mother’s Day can be as tricky as some mother-daughter relationships: beautiful, complicated, layered, and not always tied up with a bow. For some, it’s a day of celebration and breakfast in bed. For others, it’s a reminder of absence, longing, or relationships that don’t quite fit the Hallmark mold.
However this day finds you, surrounded by love, quietly grieving, eye-rolling through brunch, or maybe a mix of it all, I’m sending a little softness your way.
This week’s edit:
The number of people who have sent me this ‘Forever 31’ SNL skit is starting to make me insecure. Hilarious and accurate!
Lena Dunham broke up with New York.
Bermudas and boots, the new Gen Z uniform.
Have you heard of timeboxing? Seems efficient.
The rise of the infotainer: Why “being smart” is marketable again.
The bliss of a quieter ego.
Three healthy habits Parisians live by.
I found myself intrigued with this Costco visit in France.
Influenced! Ordered the Biossance Marine Algae Eye Cream to help my fine lines.
Do you sauna? Strong case for it.
Protein, your questions answered including high protein sample menus for the day.
20 Frank Lloyd Wright houses that changed America.
It Girl: The Life and Legacy of Jane Birkin is coming out in October.
Away launched a new kids collection, designed by parents for little explorers. Cute!
Millennials rejoice, the ballet flat is the flat shoe cool girls can’t stop wearing according to VOGUE.
But also, granny's freaky garden clogs are summer's new lo-fi shoe obsession. As are the Rothy’s summer clogs, both the buckle and the casual. The casuals live by my backdoor, so comfortable!
This piece on ‘the death of daydreaming’ resonated. It reminded me of the beauty of boredom, the kind that sparks imagination, wonder, and creativity. And pushed me to raise my kids like it’s the ’90s: less stimulation, more staring at the ceiling. And maybe, just maybe, to let myself daydream a little more too.
There’s a new tinted moisturizer coming to town: The Uniform by Merit with SPF 45. Unclear when (end of month-ish it seems?) but there’s more details in this article. Also, they cleared their grid for it and naturally, featured Steve Jobs, king of the uniform.
Is Makeup by Mario the next makeup brand for a big acquisition?
The Row coded brands that aren’t crazy expensive. Speaking of The Row, did anyone else notice that they updated their avatar? It reminds me of a waifier version of The Ranch Malibu.
It’s the last day of the DÔEN Mother’s Day sale and there’s still some great pieces left like this skirt (also in black).
Instacart has a new app called FIZZ that’s smart for them and smart for people hanging out. Fizz lets you plan parties and order food and drinks as a group without splitting the bill/Venmo-ing your friends after. You create an event, share the link with your group, everyone adds what they want to, each person pays for their own and once the list is finalized everything gets ordered and delivered together.
Did not know that we should be checking to see if our chicken is air-chilled. Good to know!
Watched ‘Adult Best Friends’ on MAX. Not an Oscar film, but fun for a weeknight when you want mind numbing entertainment.
Went to an event where we did a gua sha tutorial with the founder of Wildling, and it reminded me how much I love this practice, especially along the sides of the neck for releasing tension.
Two linen tops I’ve been reaching for this spring: Malika and Viola.
Ordered ‘The Flavor Bible’ as I’m told it helps you cook from your intuition and is an all around amazing kitchen resource.
Making this dessert. Yum!
Lastly, the next eight months are good ones: May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. That is all!
If you enjoyed this, would you be kind enough to give it a little heart?
I hope you have a nice week!
xx,
Hold on. Garden clogs are officially cool!? I’ve waited for this day.
So so good ❤️
